The semester is almost over . . .

In actuality, I only have 4 weeks until Fall semester is finished. When I come home at Christmas, I will not be returning back to school until February. Am I sad this is semester is over? Yes and no. I will miss the intellectual stimulus of debating the purpose of Milton's "Paradise Lost," I will especially miss Music Theory because I get to dissect music into molecules. Some things I will not miss: being smothered with unwanted devotion, the cold weather, but most of all, being bombarded with thousands of world philosophies. This semester in one of my classes, we have been brainwashed into believing the following statement: Caucasians = evil, all other races = pristine, good. If you thought the multi-cultural movement had reached it's peak, wait until my generation is on the loose. In this class about world philosophies, we were required to read a book by Ron Takaki entitled "A Different Mirror: a multi-cultural history of America." This book was a poorly written, proganda-filled "history of America" that we were supposed to swallow whole. In my not so humble opinion, Takaki ascended the heights of Revisionist history idiocy when he claimed that minorities contributed an EQUAL amount to the formation of America. He undermines his own statement when he blithely says that over 90% of America's population was Caucasian when it was formed! Here's a simple question: how could minorities such as African-Americans EQUALLY contribute to the formation of America when they comprised less than 10% of the population?? The minorities must have been working overtime to contribute equally with the Caucasians . . . (could not resist this jab).

Here is a random question that I feel like tossing into cyberspace: are humans determined or totally free?  By determined, I mean are we products solely of our environment? Or do we possess the freedom to create who we want to become?

Now that these questions are off my mind and onto . . . well no one else's, I will think about going to bed.

                              I remain every thinkly yours,

An overdue update

Well, I thought it was time to update . . . I am back at university. Here are the classes I am taking: British Literature before the 1800s, Core 250, Music Theory, Ear Training, Piano Lessons, Piano Ensemble, Piano Accompanying, Recital Hours, and General Conducting. The British Lit class has proven to be the greatest challenge. The professor has high expectations, and gives exorbitant amounts of work. However, he is an amazing teacher and very knowledgeable. I absolutely love my music classes (with the exception of conducting). This semester I am playing the following pieces: Bach's Prelude and Fugue in B Major, BWV 868; Beethoven's Sonata in F Major, op 10, no. 2; Schubert's Impromptu in E-Flat Major, op. 90, no. 2; Prokofiev Visions Fugitives no. 7 and 10. I have the first and last memorized, but the middle two pieces are taking more time

Nothing extraordinarily exciting has been happening, except that I get to go home in 30 days!! The weather is deliciously chilly so that I now have to wear a wool jacket, but at least there is no snow yet

Maybe I'll update again in the future . . . unless no one reads this anymore. In that case, this could be my final entry.

Update

As most of you know, I have been at home for over a month now. I have been working as a "secretary" at my dad's workplace. I am not a traditional secretary because most of the time, I wander from department to department looking for work. It's not the most stimulating job, but at least it pays well.

I have started to read C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy. I have finished Out of the Silent Planet, and I am in the middle of Perelandra. So, if you are looking for some good books with tons of philosophical theology, these books are for you.

Well, since nothing else has been happening, I will end this already dull entry.

Last Day of Finals

Well, I have my last three finals tomorrow. The last few days have been rushing by . . . two finals were a part of those days. Oh, and I am done with science FOREVER!!

If you all could pray for me at 9:00 tomorrow morning, I would appreciate it! I have my piano final at that time.

Six days left!

Well, I will be home this Saturday! I can't wait for this week to end . . . I already had two finals last week. One in Ear Training and the other in Music Theory. I think they went well, but I guess I'll find out when I get my grades   The only test I am dreading this week is my piano final. Tomorrow, I have to turn in a writing portfolio that is worth 55% of my grade for Creative Writing.

Also, today was my last Sunday at my normal church. Not that I'm looking forward to attending CVCC  It's hard to desire worshipping at a church that functions by strife. But, I am looking forward to seeing some of the people.

On a more exciting note: I can barely walk through the hallway of my dorm because people are putting boxes of stuff there. Everyone is starting to pack up and dream of no homework! I won't start packing until Friday, but I think I can survive till then.

Have a Happy Mother's Day, Mom
